Horror film "Scream" analysis

Scream is set in modern America in and around a small community  it uses misenscene to create an tense and unnerving atmosphere to the film when the killer is about and a seeming normal yet dramatic one when he is not, in addition to this when the killer is about it dose not go over the top to make it seem creepy, instead they do their best to make it as normal as possible to add a scene of realism to it is more believable for the viewer to imagine themselves in the movie.

 A lot of non diagetic sound is used to create a tense feel which then becomes louder when the killer jumps out to help make the audience jump, this is coupled with a lot of very fast cutting shots to make it seem more fast pace with the intention of inducing panic. Ontop of this they used a lot of closeups to show the fear in the faces of the victims and the killer to help add suspense.

The cast of the film were at the time all relatively unheard off which also helped it a further sence of realism due to the fact the audience isn't asotiating any of the actors with other films (specifically if that film is off a different, more light heated genre)

Ferris Bueller

Today we watched the first five minutes of Ferris Bueller. We very rapidly established that it was a comedy from the way in which all the acting was very over exaggerated not to mention the happy up-beat song in the background coupled with the bright lighting and vibrant colors. The film  them proceeded to almost tell us it was a comedy from how there was writing on the screen where Ferris is talking to the camera doing something called breaking the fourth wall, which is where the actor openly addresses the audience.

It is set in a relativley well-off amercian suburb in the summertime on a bright sunny day, which Ferris imeidatley establishes as the reason for his day off showing us hes all about haveing fun which keep the film light hearted.

Prelim Evaluation

Preliminary task evaluation

Overall i really enjoyed creating my prelim task video, it did not at all go according to the original plan but the end product still came out relatively well. I really liked how i specifically synced the music to the camera cuts and sleight rewinds which i felt gave it an elegant fell however in some of the shots there was a sleight camera wobble and i had some trouble with the sound whiles the actors were talking because off how there was a background noise louder in one than the other which i failed to realize whiles filming. If i was to recreate the task i would be a lot more careful to not knock the tripod whiles filming and be more concious to background noises and how they change in volume depending on where they are being filmed from.

Preliminary task

I am going to make my preliminary task using my sister and her boyfriend in their apartment. It will be about a small domestic dispute about cleaning dishes with an abrupt ending with something happening to one of them.
