The Mist analysis

Horror film "The Mist" analysis

The Mist is a horror film done on a relatively low budget, there are no really famous actors and some of the cast already knew each-other from the tv series "The Walking dead" therefore there were able to work efficiently with each-other.

The film opens with a scary scene during a storm which is the type of thing you would find in a more typical horror film however that kind of scene is not used again in the movie and is in great contrast to the real danger in the film "The mist" which is shown in a calm and tranquil way until the beats come from within it helps to add a fear factor and certainly makes you jump because you are simply not expecting it.

I really enjoyed the psychological element of this film because of the way a large focus of the main characters is getting away from the bulk of the other people trapped with them in the stoor because of how they are turning to god causing them to do some simply inhumane and messed up thing in their so called Deity name and their fear that they will try and sacrifice them to the creatures within the mist.

The films ending is absolutely brilliant because of the seance of cruel and saddening irony it portrays from how just after the characters have lost hope so the main character kills the rest of the group (with their connect)  and then goes to throw himself into the mist when it merely clears with the army behind it as the character breaks down in tears and anger.
